    Name: Poverty Awareness Event
    Date: September 9, 2018
    Time: 1:30 PM - 4:00 PM CDT
    Event Description:
It is often common to think that issues of homelessness, hunger, and poverty are far away from us and found in big cities. Yet, right here in Waushara County one in six children live in poverty. Come learn what you can do to help at the Poverty Awareness Event. This event will be held on Sunday, September 9th from 1:30-4:00pm at Hope Lutheran Church. During the event, Patrick Nehring will be facilitating a Community Food Challenge simulation and Jan Novak will be hosting a presentation regarding community resources and sharing opportunities for individuals and/or congregations to become involved. Dr. Groos, from Bread for the World will provide a workshop on Advocacy. It has all the makings for a great community event. Additional volunteers are needed to assist in the Community Food Challenge. No prior experience is necessary! Community Food Challenge volunteers are asked to arrive by 1:30pm. The simulation will be completed by 3:45pm – plenty of time to get home for the Packer game! Please reply to Patrick Nehring, patrick.nehring@ces.uwex.edu, as soon as possible if you can help out!
