An award-winning documentary, What We’re Hungry For: How Food Pantries Fed Rural Wisconsin During the Pandemic, will kick off Waushara County Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week with a showing on November 15th at the WWII Memorial Building, 440 W. Main Street in Wautoma. The program will run from 5:30-7:00 p.m., starting with the showing of the 45-minute documentary followed by a discussion of the issues and possible solutions to hunger and food insecurity in Waushara County.
This documentary chronicles the response of five rural Wisconsin food pantries to the unprecedented needs of their communities during the coronavirus pandemic. The stories of how these pantries responded to hunger and food insecurity during this crisis reveal the vital role their efforts play in the wellbeing of their communities and provide a lens to look at longstanding underexplored issues surrounding hunger in rural Wisconsin. What We’re Hungry For was recently honored at the Ceres Food Film Festival with the Moved Us Most Award.
Present at the screening will be Jim Winship, the Director and Co-Producer of the film and Marty Lee, Director of the Waushara County Food Pantry, one of the five pantry directors featured in the film.
