    Did you know that Waushara County has a resident bear population? Do you know what to do if you encounter a bear while hiking? Learn about Wisconsin’s Black Bear from Environmentalist and Educator, Scott Toutant, of Princeton, as he shares his enthusiasm for all things Nature and former DNR Park Ranger, Randy Lennartz, will share stories of his experiences and encounters with bears while living and working for 20 years in northern Wisconsin’s “Bear Country”. This 2.0-mile long guided hike will be on the Ice Age Trail and other trails around the Bohn Lake State Natural Area near Hancock on Saturday, July 13th from 10am-12pm. Meet at the accessible trail parking lot on 9th Avenue - approx. one quarter mile north of County Rd “C”. Watch for event signs. This is the second of three extra guided summer hikes planned for the “Walk-The-Waush” Challenge. This hike will have a Youth focus but, hikers of all ages are welcome! We recommend wearing long pants and sturdy shoes. Bring a water bottle, bug spray and a friend! Hosted by the Waushara County Chapter of the Ice Age Trail Alliance.
