    Time: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM CST
    Event Description:
Black Hawk Folk Society Second Saturday Concert. Dangerous Folk Performs at Mountain View Community Center. Black Hawk Folk Society presents Dangerous Folk on Saturday, February 8 at the Mountain View Community Center. Julie Thompson and David HB Drake combine their musical talents to present “Blowing in the Wind,” reinvigorating classic folk tunes of the 1960’s and 70’s. Be ready to enjoy inspired guitar work and vocals, and to be transported a half century plus back in time by the duo’s music. Though some music critics categorize Dangerous Folks’ repertoire as iconic protest songs, the duo themselves think of their oeuvre as music that affirms the positive message shaping the lives of the “boomer” audience and hopefully, inspiring a younger crowd! “We think it’s a music whose power and honesty span the generations.” Dangerous Folk take the stage at 7, with general admission tickets sold at the door from 6:30 on. (Adults: $10; 12 & under: free.) All are invited to begin the evening with a potluck supper—good food and a chance to mingle with the performers and other audience members. Mountain View Community Center—located at N3137 21 st Lane, just off Highway 152, south of Mt. Morris—is handicap friendly, with plenty of free on-site parking. Black Hawk Folk Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. To learn how you can become a volunteer or a supporter, please make an on-line visit to blackhawkfolk.org.
