The Mid-State Snowdrifters Club was established in 1967 when several businessmen and residents from the Wautoma area got together and decided to develop a snowmobile trail system thru out the Wautoma area. These individuals realized the sport of snowmobiling was growing and they wanted to expand the sport in Waushara County. They also wanted to generate tourism and revenue for the businesses in the county during the winter months. The businessmen contacted property owners in the area to seek permission to cross their land to construct snowmobile trails. Each of these businessmen then loaned the club $500 dollars towards the purchase of a trail groomer to maintain these trails. After the groomer was purchased, each businessmen was repaid, within two years.
