Steve Ackerman from the University of Wisconsin-Madison will be live via Zoom to talk about the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, the freighter that sank in Lake Superior during a storm on November 10, 1975, with the loss of the entire crew of 29 men. Dr. Steve Ackerman joined the UW-Madison faculty in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences in 1992. He served as Director of the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) from 1999-2019. He is currently the Interim Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education at UW-Madison. He is one of the ‘weather guys’, who appear monthly on Wisconsin Public Radio.
