iscover Wisconsin, the state’s leading media brand and tourism TV show, will be shining the spotlight on Waushara County in an upcoming episode. “Waushara County – For All Seasons” airs on Saturday, April 6 at 10 a.m. on Fox Sports Wisconsin and on Sunday, April 7 at 10:30 a.m. on WFRV-TV. Co-host Mariah Haberman kicks off the show on the shores of one of Waushara County’s many lakes. Whether by jet ski, pontoon boat, or paddle board, there’s endless ways to enjoy all the lakes the area has to offer. Many families have made spending time on Waushara County’s lakes a lifelong tradition by vacationing together in one of the beautiful lakefront properties. Family dinners, card games on the porch, and evening boat rides are all integral parts of a family vacation in Waushara County.
Haberman goes on to explore the rich fishing opportunities in Waushara County, especially in the Springtime. The Wild Rose State Fish Hatchery, one of the largest state-operated hatcheries in Wisconsin, raises about two million fish each year that end up in public waters for anglers to catch. The Hatchery also shares their conservation efforts and lets young anglers get up close and personal with Wisconsin’s fish species in their visitor’s center.
Another Springtime act-ivity in Waushara County is golf, and both the Waushara Country Club and Two Oaks North Golf Club offer challenging and well-maintained courses. Haberman then introduces another beloved Spring tradition with a peek at the county’s popular turkey hunting season. Hunters can take advantage of Waushara’s 20,000 acres of public land for hunting as well as trapping, hiking, and all kinds of outdoor recreational activities. The Spring segment comes to a close with dinner at Silvercryst Supper Club and Resort in Wautoma. With its famous steaks and gorgeous views, it’s no surprise that Silvercryst is a Waushara County favorite.
Haberman fast forwards to autumn and takes a road trip along the county’s three Rustic Roads to catch the beautiful Fall foliage. She then heads to the Wild Rose Car Show, a show that draws vintage car enthusiasts from around the state. The vintage cars cruise around Waushara’s back country before heading into town for a weekend of music, food, and fun for car lovers of any age. Next, Haberman explores Flyte’s Fieldstones, a family-friendly farm and destination for all things Fall. Activities include a petting zoo, corn pit, pumpkin launcher, and 10-acre corn maze so there’s no shortage of ways to celebrate the season.
Winter brings all new ways to enjoy the outdoors in Waushara County. Experience 23 miles of Wisconsin’s iconic Ice Age Trail, which is perfect for hiking or snowshoeing during the snowy months, especially during fun events like February’s Sweetheart Hike. Snowmobilers also love spending time in the area, which boasts over 300 miles of snowmobile trails. And no winter trip to Waushara County would be complete without a trip to Nordic Mountain, a ski, snowboard, and tubing park that has been bringing families together for generations.
