Name: Black Hawk Folk Society Second Saturday Concert
    Date: March 9, 2019
    Time: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM CST
    Event Description:
Black Hawk Folk Society Second Saturday Concert. Cris Plata was born in South Texas, the son of migrant workers. Living in different migrant camps and following the harvest exposed Cris to a wide range of musical experiences. Another strong influence stamped its mark on this man at an early age. This can be best described as the Texas singer-songwriter genre.  Texas has long been the hot bed of musical talent that has been forged by its wide open vistas and its independent nature. How do we describe Cris Plata's music in a nutshell? Perhaps Tex-Mex. "Tex" would now stand for Texas singer-songwriters and "Mex" would stand for Mexican roots music. Ann Plata, bass player and vocalist rounds out this great duo! Mountain View Community Center is handicap accessible, with free and on-site parking.  The evening begins with a 6 p.m. potluck supper, open to all.  Black Hawk Folk Society is a non-profit volunteer-driven group whose mission is to bring quality music to central Wisconsin.
